Friday 1/24 Scale Race Night & Saturday Junior Club
Race Format & Procedure
Race

A 'Race Event' will include Practice, Heat Draw, Racing & Finals

Practice
A Practice period prior to the start of the Race will be made available in which all racers may test cars
and re-familiarise with the track. Practice will be 'Open' unless the event entry is deemed by the
Race Director to be busy enough to arrange organised practice so that all racers gain similar access
for track time. Volunteer marshals may be required for Practice.
Heat Draw
A random 'Draw' by the Race Director of all racers entered into an event off the Race Entry Sheet will
establish the make up of each heat. Racers who arrive after the official draw, and before the start of the
race, will be placed in a heat at the sole discretion of the Race Director. Racers who arrive after the Race
has started may also be entered in a heat at the discretion of the Race Director, but will be subject to a
2 lap penalty in the the A Final should that racer reach the A Final.
Racing
'Racing' will consist of the combined laps from 8 heats, which will seed drivers into various Finals.
Friday Race Night & Saturday Junior will be raced over 8 lanes x 3 mins ea. Friday Racers will make
2 visits to the track, racing over 4 lanes each session/visit. Junior Club Racers will make 3 visits to
the track, 2 visits for 3 lanes x 3 mins, 1 visit for 2 lanes x 3mins. Time of heats (3 mins more or less)
or number of lanes raced may be varied by the Race Director subject to size of entry but every effort
will be made to run 8 heats x 3 mins ea. The 7 (seven) top racers with most laps in the heats will go
into the 'A' Final, the next 7 if possible in 'B' Final etc. The winner of each Final, which will be a 'Sprint
Race' between 20 and 50 laps, goes up to the next Final until the 'A' Final is established. Heat order
and numbers in each heat to be arranged at the discretion of the Race Director. After the heats, racers
by invitation from the Race Director will be able to select a lane for the Finals, highest quailfying racer
getting to choose a lane first etc. To establish 'Qualifying Lap Totals', a racer's total laps scored over 8
heats will be added up. In slot racing at Millstream, if a car leaves it's slot (in a race) and travel's down
the track, the car gets put back in the slot on the track adjacent to wear the car stopped, therefore if a
car is de-slotted just before the start/finish line (dead strip for lap counter), and crosses the dead strip
upside down (not in the slot) in such a way that the lap does not record on the race computer, the
position stands i.e. no lap is added manually by the race controller. If a car is de-slotted and in
doing so leaves the track, going onto floor or elsewhere, it is returned to its lane where it left the track
Race Cars
Each competitor may race one car only through the heats and finals. Any number of cars may be tested
in practice. In the heats, if after a shunt or engine/mechanical failure, a car is unrepairable or unserviceable
(u/s), that car must be presented to Race Control, after which at the start of the following heat the driver
may put a fresh (2nd) car on the Start Line to continue in the race.(Change of motor suffers same penalty
as change of car). Any driver running a second car in the Heats will be subject to a 3 lap penalty (4 on
counter) in the first Final in which that driver finds himself in after the quailfying heats. Any car that breaks
down in the Finals brings to an end that drivers evening of fun!
Car Prep,
Engine,
Performance
& Controllers
In order to maintain an even balance with regard to race car performance and fairness to all members,
motors in cars that race at Millstream are only accepted on the Start Line if cars/motors are prepared
by Millstream Pro Race Shop or by racers themselves. Race motors that are 'super tuned' by third
parties are not acceptable at Millstream and any motor that patently exceeds the performance of the
rest of the field or the accepted standard will be subject to a Stewards Enquiry and likely disqualification.
A disquailfied racer may or may not be given the option to exchange an illegal motor for fresh legal
product from Millstream. Trading of product or services by third parties or between racers at Millstream
is not acceptable and against our Terms & Conditions. BSCC only accepts product onto the Start Line
generating from Millstream MC. Motors are only accepted onto the track with original parts - all hybrid
motors are deemed illegal (i.e. original can, arm magnets, springs etc also no advanced timing). Only
approved controllers allowed at Millstream - if in doubt ask (includes specifically approved Parma/PSE
and Difalco).
Disputes
All disputes with regard to Racing, Equipment or Penalties imposed on racers for misconduct, illegal kit,
low ground clearance etc will be dealt with by BSCC Stewards Enquiry whose decision is final.
But we are fair . . .
Conduct & Marshalling

BSCC wishes to encourage the hobby to develop as a family oriented adventure which is open to all. We
have over a long period of time developed standards for conduct & marshalling. Competitors must maintain
acceptable standards of conduct and sportsmanship at all times, especially in the heat of battle when things
'go wrong'. Unsporting conduct and abusive or obscene language will be subject to a first warning by Race
Control, a second violation will result in a 25 penalty, a third in disqualification. We do not wish to disqualify
anybody, but BSCC Millstream is the premier retail showcase for slot car racing in the UK, and we consider
that acceptable social conduct to be sufficiently important to set terms and conditions with regard to this
matter which all competitors must accept on entering the BSCC British GP, any BSCC Event or any BSCC
Raceway.

All drivers must marshal the race immediately following the race he or she has completed. If possible, you
should marshal the corner coloured the same as your last heat lane. In the first race, drivers of the last
scheduled heat or race will marshal under the direction of race control. The Drivers Brief before each event
will also cover expected standards of marshalling. Drivers may not talk or shout at marshals at any time.
Shouting at marshals will only delay you getting back into the race. In a multiple crash, the car that causes
the pile-up always goes back on last whatever that driver may think or say. Phantom track calls will be treated
as unsporting conduct (see para 1 above). Marshals should not enter into dialogue with drivers.
When marshalling cars, SLOW MARSHALLING can COST LAPS, TIME & even the RACE. So drivers, when
YOU are marshalling, use BOTH HANDS to quickly and carefully put de-slotted cars back into the relevant
slot - lane colours should be on the front of each car - at the same time look up the track to check that NO
TRAFFIC IS COMING ALONG AT HIGH SPEED which you might knock off by placing cars back onto the track
or with your arm / hand. Remember that in corners, the rear of cars move out and interfere with the line of cars
on the immediate outside lane . . . Marshalling is not popular with all racers (especially leading drivers), but it
is important, and you cannot race without marshals, so when you are marshalling, try to do a good job!
Good Racing!

session at Millstream unless purchased or sourced from Millstream Model Centre. No advertising for non approved
race product. Additionally all cars to be self prepared/tuned or race prepped by Millstream Pro Race Shop. Third party
engine tuning or race prepping will result in immediate disqualification - this of course would be unfortunate, but
Millstream is the largest slot racing venue in the UK and we consider it imperative to support your raceway in order
to maintain our general high and even standards of racing, premises, prizes etc.

7 On entering any race at Millstreamall race cars must have 'dry' tyres i.e. no 'glue' or 'goop'
Tyres should be cleaned with a solvent similar to Lighter Fluid prior to entering a race (or practice)
Tracks will be 'sprayed' at the discretion of the Race Director.
